Conducts education sessions with providers regarding the accuracy and completeness of medical documentation, coding and billing in accordance with MGUH Compliance policies and federal, state and local regulatory compliance requirements. Completes compliance audits and reviews of select system-wide, high-risk areas in the facility billing process and commun! icates review findings. Recommends and maintains compliance ed! ucational content on various topics as determined by audits/reviews or other risk assessment activities. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital’s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.
Required Education/Training:
Bachelor’s degree in health-related or business administration preferred; or any other combination of relevant education and/or experience strongly preferred.
Certification in Health Care Compliance (CHC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or similar certification required. CPC certification strongly preferred.
Required Experience:
One (1) to three (3) years progressively more responsible experience in operational, clinical or business management or similar field.
Knowledge of healthcare compliance, regulatory law, CMS billing rules and OIG projects preferred.
Excellent project management skills.
High level of independent judgment and problem-solving skills.
Record of effective working relationships with other health professionals.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong analytical, report design and organizational skills.
Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
Proficiency in computer software programs, including MS Office.
